The research lab led by Dr. Xuewu Dai is part of the Department of Physics and Electrical Engineering, Northumbria University. We are a diverse group of researchers with various backgrounds, including communicaiton, control, computer science and electrical engineering. We are interested in developing novel networked control and intelligent scheduling technologies for time-sensitive industiral Interent of Things (IoTs) and Transport-Energy systems, such as the electtric vehicles/fleets with smart charging/dispatching, mobile autonomous robots (AMRs) and Automated Guided Vechiles (AGVs), and train control and rescheduling under disruptions. Our research centers around the theory development of distributed signal processing and robust state estimation in netwoked systems and focuses on their applications to wireless communication, time synchronization, cooperative robot control and fault detection, and condition monitoring of dynamic systems.

Of particular interest in our research work are

1. Wireless networked control systems and condition monitoring (e.g. gas turbine engines);
2. Industrial Interent of Things, including precise time synchronizaiton, and coordination control of mobile autonomous robots (AMRs), Automated Guided Vechiles (AGVs);
3. Co-design of intelligent scheduling and neteworked control for Transport-Energy systems, such as Electric Vehicle Fleets, train control and scheduling under disruptions due to extreme weather.
